SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Savannah's annual week of movie screenings and star gazing is under way in the city's downtown historic district.

The 2012 Savannah Film Festival opened Saturday and runs through Nov. 3. Stars scheduled to attend include Matt Dillon, Diane Lane and Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee.

More than 30 films were selected for competition during the festival from more than 1,000 entries submitted by filmmakers worldwide.

This is the first year the film festival will show 3-D movies, with a screening of "The Amazing Spider-Man" on Halloween this Wednesday. The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Lee, who co-created the character with artist Steve Ditko.
