Father sought by police after toddler shot in leg

NewsCentral Staff

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a father accused of shooting his infant son in the leg.

Detectives tell WSB-TV that the 5-month-old child is recovering at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston.

Police in DeKalb County say the shooting happened early Sunday morning at a home in an unincorporated part the county, south of Stone Mountain. Authorities say the circumstances of the shooting are unclear, and they want to speak with the child's 24-year-old father to learn how it happened.

Police say they're searching for the father, who they say is wanted on several charges related to the case, including reckless conduct, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
