Crash on busy Atlanta freeway slows traffic

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities closed the southbound lanes of the busy Downtown Connector on Atlanta's south side as they investigated a serious accident.

The lanes were closed shortly before 5 a.m., just before the early stages of Friday's rush hour. By 6:15 a.m., the lanes had reopened as authorities continued to investigate the accident.

The accident happened just south of the downtown area, south of University Avenue. The closure delayed motorists heading through the city and toward Atlanta's airport.
