Captain D's Restaurant in Monroe burns Sunday

NewsCentral Staff

MONROE, Ga. (AP) - Members of the Monroe Fire Department say a fire that destroyed a Monroe fast food restaurant early Sunday was apparently started accidentally.

Monroe Fire Department spokesman Bill Owens said firefighters responding to the 1:20 a.m. blaze at the Captain D's on Spring Street in Monroe could see smoke and flames from a half-mile away,

Owens told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that investigators had determined that the cause was an electrical fire in the office area of the restaurant. He said the flames spread to the attic and roof.

No injuries were reported.
