Boater who drowned identified as Lawrenceville man

NewsCentral Staff

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say they've recovered the body of a Lawrenceville man who drowned in Lake Lanier.

Hall County sheriff's Sgt. Kiley Sargent identified the man as 54-year-old Robert Armistead of Lawrenceville.

Authorities say he was found after authorities responded to reports of a capsized boat near Aqualand Marina on Sunday. A man walking his dog had spotted the overturned jon boat near the shore.

Sargent tells The Times of Gainesville that no foul play is suspected, and an autopsy will be performed on Armistead.
