Authorities capture 4 of 6 escaped Ga. inmates

SWAINSBORO, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Emanuel County say they're still looking for two inmates who were among six prisoners that escaped from the county jail over the weekend.

Rocky Davis, chief investigator for the Emmanuel County sheriff, said Tuesday that four escapees have been recaptured since the jail-break Saturday.

Davis says both prisoners who remain at large were being jailed while awaiting trial. Prisoner Matthew Findley is charged with murder and Jeffery Webb faces charges of aggravated assault. Davis says investigators have no reason to suspect the escaped men have armed themselves.

Authorities say six inmates escaped Saturday night after someone doing plumbing work at the jail left a door unlocked.

Sheriff's officials say the four captured escapees were returned to the jail without incident.
