ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Athens-Clarke police are investigating a murder-suicide that started with a woman's body found in a parked
car about a mile from the University of Georgia campus.
The shooting Thursday afternoon prompted an alert at the campus telling students and staff to avoid the university's golf course,
where the shooter, 25-year-old Michael Wise, had been spotted. The woman was identified as 20-year-old Kendra Borders.
Police spokesman Capt. Clarence Holeman said the man was found dead about 10 miles from campus in neighboring Oglethorpe County
from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say Wise killed himself as police pulled his car over about 3:30 p.m.
