2 people killed in northeast Georgia crash

WATKINSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a crash that claimed the lives of two people in northeast Georgia.

Oconee County Chief Deputy Lee Weems told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the single-vehicle crash happened Monday night on Hale Road, in the southern part of the county.

Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Tim Meyer told The Athens Banner-Herald that 36-year-old driver John Edwards of Athens and his passenger, 23-year-old Stephen Marlow of Madison, were found dead at the scene.

Few other details were available Tuesday morning.

Oconee County is about 60 miles east of Atlanta.
