SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Police say a speeding pickup truck crossed a median on Interstate 516 and rolled over onto a car going the opposite direction, killing two people and leaving three hurt.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police say in a news release that the crash happened Friday afternoon. Twenty-two-year-old Trever Chase Cannon was driving the pickup truck and was in serious but stable condition Friday evening.
A motorcyclist who avoided the overturning pickup was treated for injuries he received in the fall.
Police say 29-year-old Stephen Carroll Joyner and his wife, 31-year-old Camie Barnes Joyner, were killed when the truck hit their SUV. Their 3-year-old daughter, Dakota, survived and is in stable condition.
An accident investigation team continues to look into the crash. The wreck shut down the interstate for three hours, but it has since reopened.
