A highly-anticipated day for Apple fans. Here locally, busy stores could be seen throughout much of Central Georgia thanks to the launch of the iPhone 5.
That includes the Verizon Wireless store on Riverside Drive in Macon. People lined up outside as the popular phone was released. Verizon Wireless District Manager Brian Taylor says every time an iPhone is released, it's pretty standard they're going to get a rush.
"Every time usually an iPhone drops, the crowds are usually big. It's excitement. New Technology. People love technology and iPhone brings it," said Taylor.
Apple took two million pre-orders for the phone in the first 24 hours it was available last week. Some analysts think it could sell more than 10 million by Monday.
An initial shipping date for Friday was quickly pushed back. People who pre-order the phone now, or did so in the past few days, could be waiting more than three weeks for their phones to ship.
