A year has almost passed since our last visit with Cody. He says his health is touch and go…but he’s thankful to still be alive. At 15 he’s outlived his life expectancy by 6 years. He’s been battling Beals Syndrome since birth…but believe it or not…that’s not what really get’s him down. Cody has no way to leave his house with his wheel chair. To go to the doctor his grandmother has to help load him in to her small car…then load his folding wheel chair in the trunk…all by herself.
Cody:
“If you’re my age don’t take freedom for granted. (EDIT) You might can go out and ride your bike…you might can go to theme parks…you might can do other things kids can. But when you’re like me…you’re stuck like this. And you don’t have no choice in what you can do. So if you are normal and able to do normal things…don’t take it for granted.”
Since our last story aired we’ve been working to get Cody a mobility van…but with the economy the way it is nothing has turned up. So in an effort to help lift is spirits we decided to surprise Cody…who loves cars…and one in particular…with a little surprise.
Cody:
You’re ready to do some living today?
Definitely…
Well I want you to look right over here…because we have a surprise for you.
Are you serious!
