Meet Shane and Abbey Gottwals… the owners of Gottwals Books in Warner Robins. While the nation is wrestling with recession…the Gottwals are wrestling with books…lots of books. It’s hard to believe but since the recession they’re sales have doubled.

“It was not to long after we opened…and we really started seeing the crunch in the housing market. As we moved along we stayed steady. We kept increasing in sales. But it wasn’t until the recession actually hit…where it was officially a recession. Since the recession hit our sales have actually doubled. So we saw an incremental increase until the recession just slapped on us. And we have doubled since then.”
With business booming the Gottwals are opening a second used book store at the Peach Shops in Byron. Their family friendly approach seems to be working. But make no mistake…when it comes down to it… the Gottwals say their success is owed to higher a power.

“We are no store without the Lord. We will never ever be apologetic about that. But yes…the Lord has absolutely made this happen. It was through prayer…He showed us. We didn’t plan on a bookstore. It was through prayer that God really told us and led the way. He opened doors…you know we prayed for open doors. He has opened them wide.”
