Meet Doctor Johnny Gayton…raised on a dirt road in Acworth, Georgia and named after Johnny Cash. He didn’t have indoor plumbing till he was in the 6th grade. Now it’s true he’s come a long way…from his dirt road roots. Today he’s an eye surgeon known around the world, a world champion weight lifter…and recently he’s become a pro wrestler. But despite all his success he hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
Dr. Johnny Gayton -
“I was the first male in my family on either side to finish high school. I mean how can you image that? I remember walking out side of the Hilton Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee after I had lectured to the American College of Surgeons, and looked over to one side and saw the Gaylord Convention Center and looked straight ahead and saw the Country Music Hall of Fame and I called my mother and said “well Mama…I guess I’ve arrived”. (Laughter)
Doctor Gayton says his success in both the operating room and athletic arena hasn’t come easily. He’s had to sacrifice and work hard for it.
Dr. Johnny Gayton -
“One of the things I’d like people to remember is I gave it my all. I did my best. And that’s what I would encourage other people to do. You know in the Bible it says do all things heartily as unto the Lord. That means do the absolute best you can do. Be the best you can be…and that’s what I’d like people to remember.”
So whether you see him during eye surgery…or ringside at Johnny G’s burning his opponents eye’s out with hot sauce…you can bet he’s giving it his all. And that’s this weeks Fox In Focus.
