Meet Roger Jackson, a former NFL player and scout. For 18 years he toured the country for the National Football League and today he’s still scouting …but in a different way. Three months ago he launched the Motivating Youth Foundation…an after school program at the Family Investment Center designed to help Macon’s youth.

“Ms. Chris and Ms. Dorthy, they asked me, did I have an office or a building? I told them no. And they came back and showed me the building and said they needed a program here. So it was just by a stroke of luck. When I came back here and looked inside…and saw the open space…the vision just came over me.”
So…while many continue talking about how to reduce violence and help Macon’s youth…Mr. Jackson and his team of retired educators and volunteers are doing something about it.

“I’ve seen a lot of communities…over the years. And I’ve been to a lot of communities around the United States. And worked with advantaged kids and disadvantaged kids. And uh…basically…all of them are the same. They need somebody to be there for them…that they can count on. And that’s what I’m trying to do…be there for the kids. They can count on me. And I’m trying to deter them away from the streets. And give them an option…that they can do anything they want to do. Even if they’re from Macon…the sky’s the limit!”
And that’s this weeks Fox In Focus.
