A Macon neighborhood is a little cleaner all thanks to church youth groups from around the state that wanted to paint a little color on the town on Saturday.
More than 300 people with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia partnered up with Rebuilding Macon. Teenagers from 18 youth Baptist church groups from Georgia painted 21 homes in the Kings Park subdivision in East Macon. The volunteers wanted to make a difference in people's lives and leave a positive impact on the city.
"It's a great experience for the kids but it also let the homeowners know that they're loved and appreciated and we want Macon to be a better place for everyone,” Rebuilding Macon Executive Director, Debra Rollins said.
Rebuilding Macon needs 100 more houses to paint by this summer for 2000 people that will be coming into town. To be considered, a person must be low income homeowner. To apply call 478-744-9808
