When the economy flat lined, some entrepreneurs decided to take the high road for their next business venture. NewsCentral’s Linnie Supall introduces you to the new concept of food trucks.
“We're trying to change the way Atlanta eats,” says Roberto Rodriguez, Manager of Yumbii Food Truck.
It’s the latest craze that’s sweeping the nation.
“So far it's been great,” says Wendy Cross, Owner of Wow! Food Truck.
These so called food trucks are taking your typical dining experience to a whole new level. In recent months they’ve popped up on Atlanta streets and soon they could be rolling into Macon.
“We love Macon,” says Cross.
“It's something that's in every major city. Atlanta’s a little behind schedule, but we're getting there,” added Rodriguez.
Now food trucks aren’t your typical street vendor.
“This is the tofu fried nachos. It’s in a bed of sesame fries,” says Rodriguez.
The food they serve is restaurant quality with a special twist.
“The arepa is actually a gluten free griddled corn cake stuffed with different slow roasted meats,” says Cross.
It’s a restaurant on wheels that’s adding spice into the food industry.
“When the store fell through we saw what a success the carts were. It’s really fun for people to come to the cart or a street food truck instead of a store. It feels like an adventure because they’re out doing something instead of just having a regular meal,” Nick Carse, Co-Owner of King of Pops.
