Aaron Leedy

A Fort Valley woman accused of scamming elderly people in the Central Georgia area has been arrested.

34-year-old Katina Hope Wright, also known as Katina Pittman, was arrested around 11 p.m. Monday night. Lieutenant Sean DeFoe says numerous tips were given to investigators that helped place her in custody at her Fort Valley home.

Wright faces two felony charges from the Disabled Adults and Elderly Persons' Protection Act. She also faces two misdemeanor charges of theft by deception.

Investigators say it was reported the woman approached individuals, and stated she knew them from their doctor’s office. The woman reportedly told them she needed money due to her vehicle leaving her stranded.

Investigators discovered that she is not an employee of any of the doctor’s offices that she has mentioned to the victims.
