NewsCentral Staff

A 65-year-old Jones County woman has died after a shooting Tuesday afternoon at an east Macon gas station.

The victim has been identified as Linda Hunnicutt of Jones County. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says she died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Macon Police were called to the Murphy Exress near Walmart on Gray Highway.

Police say it started when a 73-year-old man hit Hunnicutt's car with his motorized wheelchair. When Hunnicutt was stepping out of her car, the man pulled out a gun and shot her in the chest.

Hunnicutt was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment but Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says she died there shortly afterwards.

The suspect, Frank Louis Reeves of Macon, was taken into custody. The case is an ongoing investigation and police say they will release more information as it becomes available.
