Weapon found at Weaver Middle School, student arrested

A Weaver Middle School student is arrested after allegedly bringing a gun to school.

It happened around 12:30 on Wednesday. Campus police got a tip that a student had a weapon on campus. Officers searched the grounds and found a 14-year-old student whose shoe wasn't completely on.

Police say they found a small-caliber handgun in his shoe. The suspect was arrested without incident. The student claimed he found the gun while waiting for his school bus.

He was taken to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
