WGXA's monthly food drive campaign continued Tuesday, and thanks to you, it was another huge success.
WGXA has partnered with Lowe Toyota and the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. We are working together to ‘Drive Away Hunger.
Tuesday's food drive was at Lowe Toyota in Warner Robins.
Dozens of people came out to help, allowing us to raise hundreds of pounds of food and much needed cash donations. And while donations are typically up around the holidays, the message we are trying to get out is that hunger is a year-round problem in central Georgia.
Bobby Denegal with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank tells WGXA that, “…in the 24 counties that we serve, there's a lot of poverty and people are hungry, not just on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but year round. The food bank is there to help support them year round.”
On an average day, the food bank delivers over 30,000 pounds of food, proving that the need exists all year.
Stay tuned to WGXA for details on March’s ‘Drive Away Hunger’ schedule and location. And thank you to all that helped Tuesday!
