WGXA collects nearly 1,000 pounds of food in second food drive

NewsCentral Staff

Thursday is Georgia Gives Day and with that in mind, everyone here at WGXA would like to thank those who came out Thursday morning to the Wal-Mart in Warner Robins for WGXA's second food drive.

Our news team received donations from 6 a.m. until noon on behalf of the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. WGXA appreciates everyone who stopped by to make a non-perishable food or financial donation. Early estimates show we received nearly one thousand pounds of food!

WGXA's first food drive was also a success. In November, our news team members were at the Zebulon Road Wal-Mart taking donations for needy families.

A lot of people also stopped by that day to donate non-perishable food items and cash. During our first food drive, we raised more than 875 pounds of food and more than $400 for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

WGXA is helping the food bank with the increasing demand from local families. We will continue our fight to battle hunger by hosting food drives every month. We certainly hope to see you at the next one!
