Voters Head to the Polls to Decide on Big Ticket Items

NewsCentral Staff

The big ticket items on the ballot this time around include the SPLOST, which would raise sales tax in Bibb County from 6 to 7 percent, and the Sunday alcohol sales referendums.

And even though the July primary brought out big numbers at the polls, the Bibb County Board of Elections says this time around, the numbers during this Election Day were a bit lower than expected.
Elaine Carr with the Bibb County Board of Elections told NewsCentral, she expects turnout may be a little low.

“I predict 15-20 percent. We judge it by how many early voters turn out. I hope it gets higher. We only had 3,300 people come in early.” said Carr.

Carr also added that none of the precincts experienced any problems Tuesday.
