Victims identified in fatal double shooting
The Crawford County Sheriff's Office has identified 32-year-old Clinton Dickey of Musella, and his estranged wife 23-year-old Shannon Dickey of Gordon as the two victims of a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Musella.
According to the Sheriff's Office Shannon was at Clinton's house, on the 200 block of Pine Forest Drive, to pick up the couples child when the two got into a physical altercation under an open carport that turned deadly. A small caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
"We just want to make sure before we release anything, to make sure (of) all our facts, (that) we're going to be able to stand behind what we submit. We don't want to give something out that's going to be false then we got [sic] to go back and recant it," said Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker.
Laconia Corbin, who lives just down the street from where the incident took place says she was home when sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene. Corbin says almost everyone in the neighborhood is related, and even though she's not a member of the Dickey family, they have always treated her like kin.
"I just (feel) like my heart had stopped, I just couldn't believe it," Corbin said. "It's just a shock, I mean all of us (are) still in shock (and) can't believe this happened."
Jack Banks, a man who says he is Clinton Dickey's great-uncle says the family is saddened by the tragedy.
"Everybody related, it's a small town, I thought nothing like this would ever happen around here. It's a small town, but you never know no [sic] more," Banks said.
"It [sic] going to take some time for everybody on this street to get over this you know, we're still going through this because we're always going to be thinking about the tragedies that happened," Corbin said.
Autopsies on the bodies are scheduled for Wednesday. The investigation is still ongoing.
