Veterans' Concern Over Possible Benefit Cuts

While veterans continue to celebrate their day of honor, some said they worry about losing their benefits in potential cuts to the military.
"Military benefits and our health benefits for the Veterans,” Vietnam Veteran, Robert Siebenmorgan said
A concern that Siebenmorgan said he thought he'd never confront when signing up for the military.
"We were promised then for those that made a career out of it, all our medical and dental was supposed to be taken care of for lifetime,” Siebenmorgan said. “So they already took the dental away from us."
Veterans still have their other benefits and if President Obama stays true to his word, they shouldn't be touched. However, the military is facing cuts of $500 billion in the next 10 years and possibly more if Congress can't find the money. Obama promised veterans in July that their VA benefits would not be slashed despite upcoming military defense cuts. However, some veterans said that they’re not certain if that will happen.
"I would think veterans care would be a part of that when you cut military spending," navy veteran, Charles Moore said
While it’s on their minds, veterans said they won't let it bother them as people honor them on Veterans Day.
"It's always appreciated I think when people thank you for your service," Siebenmorgan said.
