Verizon Wireless Service Restored to Middle Georgia Customers

NewsCentral Producer

According to Verizon Wireless, cell phone service to all middle Georgia customers has been restored.

Earlier Friday, Verizon Wireless cell towers in Macon, Warner Robins, Milledgeville and other middle Georgia areas were out of service. Customers could make calls on their cell phones, but all incoming calls went straight to voicemail. The outage did not affect text messages.

Kate Jay with Verizon Wireless says, the cause of the outage was related to a software upgrade implemented to the local network equipment overnight.

Jay says cell phone service was restored to Verizon Wireless customers as of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.
