Unemployment Rate Goes up in Central Georgia

NewsCentral Staff

More central Georgians were looking for jobs in January according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

Between December and January, the number of unemployed workers in Macon rose from 9.1% up to 9.4%.

That's still better than January of 2012 when about one in ten people were out of work.

Warner Robins also saw a bump in unemployment from 7.5% in December to 7.7% now.

The Department of Labor blames a loss of holiday job and layoffs for the unemployment growth.
