Two Wilkinson County Teachers Accused of Molesting the Same Student

Amber Jones

There are new details in the child molestation charges involving two Wilkinson county teachers. Authorities have confirmed the same 15-year-old female student at Wilkinson county high school was the victim in both crimes.

Rodney Hunter is now the second of two teachers from Wilkinson County High school accused of child molestation. Wednesday afternoon, the Air Force R-O-T-C-teacher appeared in magistrate court for admittedly kissing a student on her lips.

One day ago, Cornelius Jones appeared in the same courtroom to be charged with child molestation, sexual assault, aggravated sodomy, and aggravated molestation. The same 15-year-old girl was the alleged victim of both men.

Richard Chatman is the Wilkinson County Sheriff and explains how the second arrest began, "This steamed from the ongoing investigation that we already had going." This investigation began Friday after a teacher overheard students talking about the alleged incidents. She went to the principal and the principal went to the superintendent.

Dr. Aaron Geter Jr., the superintendent of Wilkinson County Schools thought it was important to go straight to the authorities, “In situations like this I think time is of the essence, and with fairness and due process you try to deal with it diligently."

Geter learned from school administrators that something inappropriate was going on between one teacher and the girl. The investigation started with Jones, but quickly turned to Turner.

The school is monitored by security cameras to ensure the safety of students. Rodney Hunter, 49, is a husband and father of three. He will remain in the Wilkinson County Law Enforcement Center on child molestation charges until his bond hearing is set.
