Tubman Museum Hosts First Storytelling Event

NewsCentral Staff

The Tubman African American Museum in Macon is hoping to get kids hooked on art and culture.

A handful of parents and their kids were at the museum on Saturday for the first ever "Second Saturday Storytelling.” The free event allowed kids up to nine-years-old to listen to a story and participate in a hands on activity afterwards based on the theme of the month, Halloween.

"We're showing that this is a family friendly institution,” Museum Sales and Marketing Director, Nicole Abdou said. “We want you to come in, let the kids kind of move around feel comfortable and expose them to the arts and culture early on.

The program meets again on the second Saturday in November at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Next month's theme will be geared around Thanksgiving.
