As the Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department transitions leadership from city to county, many have high hopes for the future of county parks.
The director of the department lead a presentation on how to improve volunteer services at the parks. County officials say the change of hand presents opportunity for growth that will bring Bibb County parks into the 21st century.
“Potential – The place just never lived up to it’s potential. Now, with the consolidation bill and the SPLOST funds, this community has the chance now to live up to it’s potential,” said Doc Dougherty, Director of Bibb County Parks and Recreation.
There are also plans to step up the qualifications for volunteer selection with more thorough background checks and previous experience, relevant to department projects.
