Funerals are a part of life, and like wedding ceremonies many people often take the extra step to make their funeral ceremonies unique. Today I was invited out to Crawford County for a very unique funeral procession.
Melvyn Rowell was by all accounts a good man...
"He was a good employee of Flint Electric for over 30 years" -Barbara Rowell/Melvyn's Wife
And while some people are passionate about old cars....Melvyn's passion was his 1950 model John Deer Tractor which he had completely restored by himself.
"He's always loved John Deere and that's his pride and joy. When we was dating I told him that was his first girlfriend and I was his second girlfriend. Of course he took it all apart piece by piece and had it spread everywhere and put it back together. Took over a year to do it." -Barbara Rowell/Melvyn's Wife
Its for that reason that this afternoon the hearse carrying Melvyn Rowell stopped in the middle of Roberta, so Melvyn could be carried by his tractor one last time.
"That was his request also, it feels good to carry out his wishes." -Barbara Rowell/Melvyn's Wife
Rest in peace Melvyn Rowell, I'm sure there are John Deere Tractors in heaven.
