Third Street Park Moves Indoors

NewsCentral Staff

A popular Cherry Blossom event kicks off on Monday but with a change of plans.

The Third Street Park Party moved inside the Terminal Station due to the weather. However that didn’t stop hundreds of people from picking up free donuts and cherry ice cream. While eating the sweet treats, the Mount De Sales choir provided the entertainment by singing songs representing the featured nation which was France.

"It really lets the downtown know that Cherry Blossom is here because everybody can come from all of their offices, people can come from all parts of Macon and Central Georgia and they can come downtown and have ice cream and donuts and really get to see the Cherry Blossoms kicking off and lots of cherry trees there too,” Cherry Blossom Festival organizer, Cyndey Costello Busbee said.

The Third Street Park party will continue every day this week starting at 11:30 a.m. Weather permitting; it will be back outside on Third Street the rest of the week. Free donuts and ice cream will be given at the event as well as horse carriage rides.
