The Macon Miracle: Mandarin Teacher Shares Lesson Plans

The educational program causing a buzz in Bibb County, the Macon Miracle, kicked off this week.

A part of the Macon Miracle was implemented on Monday, which includes Mandarin Chinese instruction for students in kindergarten through third grade this school year.

The new teachers are getting settled in and hitting the ground running with the new program. Jing Shen is the Mandarin Chinese Teacher at Walter P. Jones Elementary and shares what she is planning in the coming weeks, "I want to introduce the Chinese culture to the kids and I would like to be guide and give them an interesting trip to China to show them the Chinese attractions, Chinese foods and Chinese classic things."

The program's goal is to prepare students for work in a global economy through instruction in the Chinese language.
