"The Macon Miracle" Strategic Plan Released to Packed Board Room

Friday at 4 p.m., Bibb County School District Superintendent Dr. Romain Dallemand released his strategic plan for school board members and a standing room only crowd at the school's board's main office in Downtown Macon.
Dr. Dallemand has mentioned closing 12 elementary schools saving three million dollars. He also has plans to teach Mandarin Chinese district wide starting with elementary aged children.
The meeting is still ongoing, and he's addressed several main points including:
1. Focusing on Students and providing a culture of respect for all students and engaging and assisting students in becoming successful.
2. Focusing on Staff by implementing professional growth plan that supports the progression of skill, will and capacity required to meet the need of 21st Century learners.
3. Focusing on Students and the Community by providing a receptive environment that fosters active engagement accountability and collaboration to support families and promote college readiness.

The miracle is that this has gone this far without really addressing or mentioning the topic of pay at anytime in our meetings at the centreplex. It was clearly the elephant in the room,how are teachers or anyone who works in the trenches of the school system going to get motivated to accomplish greatness when their paycheck is the same every year for the past 3/4 years. It is so hard to hold your head up every year and justify to your significant others why you stay at a job that doesn't respect a pay raise as a part of morale and employee self esteem. This part of the macon miracle really needs to be addressed, many think it but, are afraid to say it.

Cut your pay and save a job. The kids can't speak English how could they ever learn any other language. REALLY DELLEMAND. WE AS AMERICANS REALLY WANT TO KEEP OUR JOBS.

This is what the "Miracle Plan" is all about. Fire teachers, then hire teachers from China to teach our kids ( who can barely speak English) Mandarin. All I can say is COME ON DALLEMAND.
