Study Break: Unique Toy Store Serving Macon

Mario Ramirez

You may remember some of these old school toys from the times when you were just a kid.

Well Williams Store in Macon Prides themselves in carrying some of these classics, but they’re not exactly behind the times.

They’ve got new and creative toys as well. The best part is almost all of them are educational or fundamental for child development.

“We just made a decision, a commitment that when we decided which toys to carry it would have to fall in a developmental need and educational need and be fun!”- Florence Allen/Store Owner

Most of the toys she carries in this store, you won’t find in a mass market toy store.

It may not cross your mind but simple toy sets can teach special needs children about nutrition and food combination, they can help when it comes to day to day activities like tying your shoes, or even build upper body strength in special needs baby’s or toddlers.

“The pound-a-peg. It’s a toy that Florence says started it all. Once her former business partner couldn’t find the toy that her doctor recommended for her special needs son, she took the matter into her own hands.”- Mario Ramirez

That was back in 2004, and since then she’s found her niche and been able to serve a very frustrated market here in Middle Georgia.

“If someone told me 30 years ago I’d be owning a toy store, I would have laughed and said ‘no I’ll probably still be working in an office for a big company somewhere.’”- Florence Allen/Store Owner
