MACON, Ga. (AP) - Some students and teachers at a high school in Macon are getting a cash incentive for success on Advanced Placement tests.
Howard High School is one of just 28 schools in the country - and the only one in Georgia - included in a grant meant to increase participation in AP classes. The grant is funded by the Northrop Grumman Corp. as part of the National Math and Science Initiative.
The grant gives students $100 for a passing score of 3, 4 or 5 on any AP English, math or science test. Teachers get $100 for each student who gets a passing score.
At a ceremony Monday, a total of $25,000 was awarded to 63 students.
