State says election results are now certified

NewsCentral Staff

Election results from the July 31st general primary run-off elections are now official.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp certified the results on Tuesday. Kemp affirmed that all counties have provided to the state the total votes tabulated for each candidate. Kemp also says the returns are a "true and correct tabulation of the certified returns" received by his office from each county.

Since the results have been certified, any candidate seeking a state office may now request a recount if they want one. Certification does not prevent the state from continuing any current investigations related to the general primary run-off, or from pursuing any future allegations that may have been brought up from the election.
