NewsCentral Staff

Two Houston County schools are honored by the state's Department of Education for their parental involvement.

State School Superintendent Doctor John Barge made a stop at Miller and Morningside Elementary Schools Monday morning.

Both schools received the Georgia Department of Education's Family-Friendly Partnership school award. Doctor Barge presented the principals with a plaque and a welcome mat during awards ceremonies. He also toured the schools and talked to parents about education issues.

Both elementary schools are only three in the state selected as winners of the award.
