Southwest High School Salutes Male Mentors

NewsCentral Staff

A group of central Georgia high school students are honoring the male influences that shaped their character.

The Southwest High School chapter of the Student African American Brotherhood invited students to bring the father figure that gave them a positive influence on living.

Those role models participated in a fatherhood breakfast that encouraged young men to push forward in reaching their educational goals.

Willie Batts, CTI Coordinator: “We invited every student's father, the community and board members and elected officials. We are hoping to change the culture in Macon.”

Saturday, September 22, the group will feature a Fatherhood March and parade led by Southwest's Marching Patriot band.

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the school at 1775 Williamson Road and wind through South Macon.
