Solar farm to power up to 300 homes in Upson County

NewsCentral Staff

Upson County is looking to the sky to supply its residents with electricity.

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday at Rocky Creek Solar Farm. It's a one-megawatt solar energy power plant. Rocky Creek became operational on June 14th, but was officially dedicated Thursday.

The farm uses more than 3,400 solar panels to generate enough power to supply 300 homes with electricity. Officials there say it's the first piece in a larger Georgia Power initiative that is expected to double Georgia's solar production when completed.

The Rocky Creek plant was developed by Solar Design & Development and Origis Energy and was built by Radiance Solar and Cantsink Manufacturing.
