Softball Players Battle Heat and Humidity at Tournament

NewsCentral Staff

Players in the Little League Southeastern Regional Softball Tournament in Warner Robins fought more than just teams to make it to the semi-finals on Monday.

Players in the tournament said they're not only been battling the opposing teams but the heat and humidity as well. While the whole region is typically warm and muggy this time of year, some of the girls said Middle Georgia seems hotter. Many players trained in the heat in their home states to prepare for the conditions but most say they just had to deal with it when they got here.

"We did a lot of conditioning,” Florida player Brianne Guldin said. “I didn't expect it to be this hot and Florida is pretty hot but it's hotter here.”

The players said they're drinking plenty of water and resting in the shade between games. West Virginia, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia will play in the semi finals on Monday with the winners playing in the championship game at 6 p.m.
