Shots Fired At Macon Bus Stop

Macon Police are investigating an early morning shooting at a school bus stop.

Public Information Officer Jami Gaudet tells WGXA, officers responded to shots fired in the area of the Virginia Drive bus stop just before 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Gaudet says there were reports of additional shots also fired in the area near Southwest High School.

According to a press release, students on the bus were not injured during the shooting. Gaudet says the students were given the opportunity to stay in school or return home with their parents. The teens have been offered counseling by the Bibb County Board of Education.

Gaudet says the case remains under investigation by the Macon Police Department and the Bibb County Board of Education Police Department.
