Serious DUI Accident Puts Roberta Man in Critical Condition

A Roberta man is in critical condition Saturday after his car was rear-ended and pushed off the roadway shortly after midnight.

After an investigation, Bibb County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Bobby Lee Lewis of Lizella and charged him with driving under the influence and serious injury by vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office says the victim, 34-year-old Derrick Smith was hit at the 8700 block of Old Columbus Road in West Bibb County at 12:24 a.m.

The driver of a Chevrolet truck hit Smith’s Pontiac and fled the scene, but deputies later arrested Lewis.

Smith is at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
