Senate bill officially filed regarding Bibb Schools' taxing authority

Bibb County voters could soon have a say in the approval process for Bibb Schools' finances.

Republican State Senator Cecil Staton has officially filed Senate Bill 247 giving voters the power to take the taxing authority away from the Bibb County Board of Education (BOE).

The bill calls for the BOE to furnish a copy of the final school budget to the governing authority of Macon-Bibb County for review and approval.
Staton filed the bill on Monday. Right now it's basically in limbo waiting to be assigned to a committee.
