School Lunch Prices Increase

Elementary school lunches in Bibb county will cost ten cents more in the near future. Thursday night the school board voted to raise lunch prices in elementary school from 90 cents to $1.
School lunches in Bibb County's Middle and High Schools already cost $1.
This is the first price increase in 16 years and still keeps Bibb lunches less expensive than most.
"The price, with it being $1, is far below what a lot of the counties are around us and that's probably because they have lower free and reduced students," says Cleta Long, Director of School Nutrition.
Seventy-Eight percent of students in Bibb County receive either free or reduced price lunches.
