School Board Offers Dallemand $800/month for Car

NewsCentral Staff

$800 for a car allowance is what's pending in Dr. Romain Dallemand’s newly negotiated contract. For now, if the contract is signed, his monthly travel allowance will be doubled. This part of the newly offered contract has created some controversy.

WGXA checked with other counties to compare this offer.

The Doughtery County School System offers a flat amount for automobile expenses allowance at $600 per month

Muscogee County offers the standard $0.55 per mile and any additional travel expenses. In 2011, Muscogee County’s Superintendent’s total came to $4,295.70.

For comparison, Dr. Dallemand will receive $9,600 annually.

School Board member Tom Hudson says with the amount of travel and the price of gas, the allowance is well deserved.

Dr. Dallemand is expected to respond to the offer sometime this week.

WGXA contacted Donald Porter for more information on the finalization of the contract, but Porter says he is limited to discuss the contract due to legal obligations.
