NewsCentral Staff

Preparations are underway for one of the Cherry Blossom Festival’s most popular events - the high heels race. This race gives men and women a chance to run in high heel shoes to raise money for breast cancer.

Former Commander of Robins Air Force Base, General Bob McMahon, and 53 of his friends, have raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Only five of his friends are running, but all 53 men are donating $5,000 to help end breast cancer.

The high heels race begins at 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Macon. WGXA’s Chief Meteorologist Jeff cox is emceeing the event for the second year!
