Roberta man dead after hit and run near Forsyth

A Roberta man is dead after his motorcycle struck a pick-up truck five miles south of Forsyth early Saturday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 51-year-old James Harvey Costlow was riding his motorcycle on Highway 42 South when witnesses say a light colored pick-up truck stopped in front of him just after midnight.

Costlow, who was wearing a helmet, rear-ended the truck and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office is still searching for the pick-up thought to be involved in the crash. It's unknown if alcohol was involved.

The case is under investigation and Monroe County Sheriff J.C. Bittick is asking that anyone with information regarding the crash contact the Sheriff's Office at 478-994-7048.
