Park Rangers at the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds are expecting the monument's 7 - millionth visitor sometime Friday morning.
Park Superintendent Jim David says the monument was 56 visitors short of 7 - million Thursday morning.
Every year more than 120,000 people visit the park from all over the world.
The park began tallying visitor statistics back in 1936, and David says he's seen a steady stream of visitors in his nearly two decades as head of the monument.
"We had our six millionth back in 2004 so I've been kind of tracking that, and knew we were coming close this year, so I've been having my rangers track that for me, and i checked with them the first part of the month and they said we're definitely going to hit it in December," David said.
David says visitors representing 49 out of 50 states have visited the monument this year. The only state missing was South Dakota.
