Rain dampens outdoor Mardi Gras festivities at Mercer Village

NewsCentral Staff

The rain dampened the Mardi Gras celebration at Mercer Village, forcing outdoor activities to be postponed. But, that didn't stop locals from celebrating inside.

Restaurants still participated Tuesday, serving up all the Louisiana favorites such as crawfish, jambalaya, gumbo and shrimp po-boys.
People who were looking forward to Tuesday's outdoor events can still enjoy them next month.

"Even despite the rain, we're going to slide the outside part back to St. Patrick's Day and still have the band and parade. A lot of people wanted to show off their stuff, so we'll give them a chance to do it, " said Carl Fambro of Francar's Buffalo Wings in Mercer Village.

Lines were forming at the restaurant before it opened at 11:00. Fambro says every three or four months, College Hill merchants get together for a celebration and this year they decided to party for Mardi Gras.
