Impending furloughs are likely to have an impact not only on civilian employees, but the services they use.
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) tells WGXA that if furloughs are implemented, all commissaries are likely to close one day per week in addition to their current operating schedule. The agency says it's developing a plan to minimize the impact of sequestration on commissary customers if furloughs happen.
The following statement was released by the Defense Commissary Agency:
"The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is thoughtfully developing its plan to minimize the impact of sequestration on commissary patrons, should furloughs be implemented. If furloughs are implemented, all commissaries are likely to close one day per week, in addition to their current operating schedule. While there will be definite impacts to our patrons and certainly to our employees if furloughs are implemented, the principles guiding DECA's planning efforts are to lessen the impacts of sequestration wherever we can."
